USO of Northwest Florida is inviting all those staying in Pensacola for Thanksgiving to join us in our Thanksgiving festivities at Bldg. 625D from 23 NOV through 26 NOV.
Dedicated volunteers and USO Northwest Florida staff will be serving smoked turkey and cranberry sliders and a pie buffet to kick off the festivities. Patrons can expect football and movies on several big screens, flag football and other lawn games outside, as well as a photo booth, games, and pool tournaments inside.
The festivities don’t end on Thursday. The fun will continue Friday, 24 NOV with a Chili Cook-Off where the service members are the judges for the USO volunteers’ chili recipes. Visitors will also be able to show their team spirit at Saturday’s Football-n-Wings party on 25 NOV. Finally, on Sunday, 26 NOV, service members and their families can enjoy video gaming tournaments, arts and crafts, movie marathons, and more.
It is the mission of the USO to keep service members connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation. Each day of this four-day event, there will be quiet areas designated for FaceTime, Skype, and phone calls home. Service members will also be encouraged to use the photo booth to take photos of themselves to share with those that miss them.
The USO is open for active duty military members and their families as well as retirees. As always, everything offered by the USO is free of charge. Visitors must show military ID to attend.
It has been the goal of the USO for over 75 years to provide a touch of home to our military. This year, USO Northwest Florida plans on hosting over 3,000 military members and their families in our Pensacola centers during the Thanksgiving holiday. USO Northwest Florida airport centers in PNS and VPS airports will also be open to accommodate traveling military families. Not only will this be an opportunity to give the troops a “home away from home,” but it also gives the community an opportunity to give back to those who give so much every day during this Thanksgiving holiday.
